Saturday August 6, 2011, is the second year for the Rockwell City Sweet Corn Daze. Our mission is To celebrate and promote Rockwell City for current and future generations through an annual festival in August.
Food
Several vendors will be set up on the northeast corner of the square beginning at 10:30am. All kinds of food, drinks, sweets and, of course, SWEET CORN will be available. Supper will be served from 4-6pm in the same area catered by Jubilee Foods.


Parades
Preregistration for the adult parade is appreciated by August 1; contact Peg at 712-297-7932.There will be a kiddie parade along with the adult parade again this year. The kiddie parade will begin first at 10am (no preregistration required) followed immediately by the big parade. Kiddie lineup will be at Champion Chrysler at 9:45am and the adult lineup will be at the Middle School on Tonawanda at 9am. The route will go right by the square so you can't miss it!

Games/Inflatables
There are several games spread around the square for kids to play and win prizes. You may purchase tokens at the information booth to play the games and earn tickets by winning. Tickets can be redeemed at the prize booth for prizes. We would like to say a big thank you to Cindy Patterson for donating the games used in this year's event.
You must have a wrist band to play on the 6 inflatables we have available. Wrist bands may be purchased ahead of time at Draperies Plus, Parkside Flowers, United Bank of Iowa and Union State Bank for only $5 or on the day of Sweet Corn Daze at the information booth for $6.


Car/Motorcycle/Antique Tractor/Vintage Snowmobile Show
The antique tractor show will be at the Landmark Depot just north of the square on 4th street. No preregistration is needed, so come on over and enjoy a root beer float while your browse! Registration for the car and motorcycle shows, located around the outside of the square, will begin at 9am. New this year is the vintage snowmobile show held just west of the square on Main Street. For more information contact Kolby Wagner at 712-830-3821.
Quilt Show
This year, the quilt show will be held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church just a block off the northwest side of the square. The show features quilts from all over the state as well as a display from Freedom Quilts, Inc. They will have a sample of a soldiers quilt and have the 9/11 quilt available for people to sign for a $5 fee. The quilt will be put in the 9/11 museum when it is complete. Flea Market
The flea market is located on the southwest corner of the square. You never know who might have that one item you have been looking for so stop by and see what the vendors have to share. There will also be fresh grown produce available so be sure and try some home grown Iowa veggies!
BINGO
BINGO will be in the AIR CONDITIONED Amvets building this year! Amvets is located on Court Street just west of the square. If you are an avid BINGO player or simply need to step out of the heat for a while, stop in and buy a card!
Figure 8 Races
The races are at the Calhoun County Fairgrounds next to the City Park and public swimming pool at the corner of High Street and 4th. The races are scheduled to begin at 5pm. Concession stands will be available.
Beer Garden & Street Dance
The beer garden will be open at Lynch's Mainstreet Bar & Grill at the corner of 4th and Main Street beginning at 6pm. The band Vinyl, from the Fort Dodge area, will be featured at the Dance from 8 pm to midnight.
Bill Riley Talent Search
Sponsored by the Rockwell City Chamber & Development, the Bill Riley Talent Search will begin at 11am with a sound check beginning at 9am.
Last year was Rockwell City's first time hosting a Bill Riley Talent Search and it went wonderfully! We are excited to host the contest again this year and are pleased to announce that Bill Riley Jr. himself will be our MC! Bring your lawn chairs and we'll see you at the bandstand on the southeast corner of the square to watch the talented contestants compete to go on to the Iowa State Fair!

Silent Auction
There will be a silent auction held for Trinity Carlson from 10:30-12:30 pm. Trinity is a 1st grader at Rockwell City Elementary School and was diagnosed with Leukemia this year. All proceeds and donations will go to the Carlson family to help with her medical costs.
